Lenovo has a bit of a stealth announcement of a new Project TinyMiniMicro node, and this one is exciting. The new Lenovo ThinkCentre M90q Gen 3 brings Intel Alder Lake CPUs along with DDR5 memory, PCIe Gen4, and even an option for 2.5GbE. We did not find the release information in a press release, or a product page, but we found the official specs for this one so hopefully, it will be coming soon.

The 1L PC option from Lenovo looks as we would expect. There are certainly a few new small features that are exciting, starting with the front of the system.

On the rear, Lenovo says that it is adding new options for the expansion slot. This includes up to 2.5GbE via a Realtek NIC. Lenovo seems to be addressing the upgradability gap between its system and the HP Elite 800 Mini G9 series (formerly EliteDesk.)

Processor wise we get 12th gen Core processors and up to the Core i9 series with vPro and DDR5 memory. That also means that we get up to a 230W PSU with these units.

We also see a PCIe Gen4 x8 expansion slot as well as two M.2 PCIe Gen4 slots for SSDs. This generation also gets WiFi 6E for networking.

Final Words

The big question now is, when do we get a Project TinyMiniMicro review of these? We hope soon as the higher-end Intel Alder Lake units sound very exciting with the new efficient cores. We covered the 12th Gen Intel Core T-Series 35W TDP CPUs Launched several months ago and yet we are still waiting for vendors to ship the new 1L PCs. We expect that they should start shipping soon though.

In the meantime, here are the links to the Gen 2 and Gen 1 versions:

As always we suggest opening these in a dedicated window, tab, or browser for the best viewing experience.
